Lightweight Folding Bikes

Riding bikes is something that has become more common in large cities.  The main reason for this is that they are more portable and can easily reach areas that cars cannot.  However a bike is only portable if it is lightweight.  Therefore the best kind of bike to ride in the city is a lightweight folding bike, which is simply a bike that can fold up.  Examples of these bikes include the Boardwalk Lite and Parkway Lite by the Raleigh biking company and the Jack by Dahon.  All of these bikes are made to be as portable as possible by being lightweight and able to be folded up.

There are two main companies that create lightweight bikes that can be folded up: Raleigh and Dohan.  Raleigh creates models such as the Boardwalk and Parkway as well as their Lite versions.  Dohan, on the other hand, provides a large variety of folding bikes to choose from.  Ranging from the tall Espresso to the short Curve SL 2009 models, a person can spend quite a bit of time trying to figure out which bike to buy.  Regardless of a person’s choice in company and model, for urban bike riding a lightweight folding bike is the way to go.

There are many benefits to having a lightweight folding bike, with the main advantage being able to take the bike almost anywhere.  Bike models such as the Boardwalk Lite, Parkway Lite, Espresso and the Jack are all excellent choices for people who want to have a portable bike to take with them wherever they go.  While the Dohan Espresso is the largest of the mentioned folding bike models, it is still far more portable than a non-lightweight and non-folding bike.  For extreme portability, a person should go with the Dahon Curve SL 2009 model, which only weighs 10.1 kilograms, making it very lightweight for a bike, folding or not.

Without companies like Raleigh and Dohan, we wouldn’t have high-quality folding bikes that are also easy to carry because of their low weight.  Models like the Dohan Espresso and the Raleigh Parkway Lite are the epitome of folding bikes.  A person who lives in a crowded urban area should consider buying a lightweight folding bike because of their portability and ease of use.  Rather than trying to drive on a super-crowded street, a person can simply ride his or her bike around the crowd of cars, allowing him or her to reach his or her destination faster.
