Bicycle commuting rocks! It’s healthy, safe, fast, cost efficient and great for the environment. There are so many types of bikes out there but one of the newest trends in bicycle commuting is the folding bike. Folding bikes focus on utility and performance. They prioritize ruggedness, comfort and convenience and not necessarily speed, although you may find a higher end bike that has it all. Raleigh folding bikes are great for both commuters and novices and offer 6 different styles of folding bikes to meet your particular needs.
Two from Raleigh’s line of folding bikes are the Boardwalk and Boardwalk Lite. These bikes were developed using Dahon Licensed Technologies and have the light alloy frame and component package that you would see on higher priced bikes. These bikes are easy to fold and a joy to own. The Boardwalk Lite is an upgrade to the Boardwalk featuring a lighter, faster component package for performance levels that would be similar to traditional non-folding bikes.
The Raleigh Parkway and Parkway Lite are their mid-priced folding bikes. They offer great value and are easy and comfortable to ride. They boast powerful alloy V-brakes like the other bikes Raleigh makes and are suitable for riders of most sizes. The Parkway Lite is an upgraded version of the Parkway and has a lightweight AIRLite alloy frame and a lighter weight alloy component package making this bike easier to carry around and the ride a little bit more responsive.
Lastly are two of Raleigh’s most affordable folding bikes. The Shopper 20 inch ladies bike comes in a lilac colour and is designed for a very comfortable ride. This bike was designed with commuting or pleasure riding in mind and folds to a compact size for easy portability. Another feature this ladies bike has are mudguards and a basket in the front! Similar to the Shopper 20 inch ladies bike is the Kompact 20 inch unisex bike. The only difference is that this bike is silver and doesn’t have a basket, but it’s usually a little bit cheaper for that reason.
A Raleigh folding bike would be a great purchase for those who are looking to reduce their carbon footprint, cut their time and costs of commuting and may even be looking to get in shape by pedalling to work!
